John Eason is dedicated to producing a pinot in the style of the great French Burgundies at his small vineyard in the High Country of North-Eastern Victoria. After fifteen years of trial and error, the 2006 Mt Terrible Pinot Noir is his first serious tilt at that ambition.

Released to acclaim (95 points from James Halliday) in January 2009, the '06 vintage has now been followed by the '08 Ian Ridley Reserve (94 points). The '07 and '09 crops were lost to frost and fire, but the '10 and '11 are currently in barrel at the newly constructed Mount Terrible Winery.
